If you're entering Canada by land or air, you'll have to must submit your personal information using the ArriveCAN app.
ArriveCAN is available to download as a free mobile app from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
You can also submit your information by creating an account and signing in online.
The information you'll be required to provide include:
- Contact information for you and everyone travelling with you
- The purpose of your travel
- Your travel details, including: date of arrival, port of entry, as well as flight number
- your vaccination information
- your trip reference code for your three night reservation at a government hotel (unless exempted)
- information about the countries you have stayed or visited in the last 14 days prior to arriving in Canada (not including stopovers)
- your quarantine plan (unless exempted)
If you need to submit a quarantine plan, you'll have to answer questions including:
- whether or not you have accommodations where you can quarantine for at least 14 days
- The address of your quarantine location
- Whether or not you can avoid contact with people who didn't travel you
- Whether or not you have access to food, water, medication and other basic necessities during your quarantine
- If there are people at your place of quarantine who are at increased risk of COVID-19 (including people who are 65 years and older, have underlying medical conditions or have compromised immune systems
- If there are people at your place of quarantine who work at a place that includes people who are at increased risk of COVID-19, including group residences and care facilities
- If there are people at your place of quarantine who didn't travel with you you can't avoid
If you won't be travelling with a mobile device with the ArriveCAN app installed, you will have to submit your information online. Print out a paper copy of your ArriveCAN receipt and take it with you on your trip to present to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer upon your arrival in Canada.
If you have a mobile device with the ArriveCAN app installed but anticipate that you won't have access to data or wifi, you can submit your information prior to your departure, and take a screen shot of your ArriveCAN receipt. You will present the screenshot to the CBSA officer upon your arrival to Canada.
If you don't have access to a computer with internet access or a mobile device, you will not be denied entry to Canada. However, you will not be eligible for exemptions if you are fully vaccinated, and may experience significant delays while you are questioned by CBSA and public health officers upon arrival. You may also be subjected to fines and enforcement action.
You can include information for everyone who is travelling with you, including:
- your spouse or common-law partner,
- children 18 years old and younger
- adults who are under your legal guardianship
You can provide information for up to 8 people at a time. You can submit everyone's information once, provided:
- that you will be staying at the same address for the entire quarantine period
- that you have their permission to submit their information to ArriveCAN
Anyone travelling with you who are exempted must submit their information separately.
If someone is submitting your information to ArriveCAN on your behalf, make sure that they provide accurate information, including:
- your quarantine address or plan information
- Contact and travel information
You will have to complete your post-border reporting by calling 1 (833) 641-0343 every day of your two week quarantine. Make sure that the information you provide matches the information submitted on your behalf.
After you submit your information to ArriveCAN, you will be provided a receipt by email. You will present the screenshot or the paper copy of the ArriveCAN receipt to the CBSA officer upon your arrival to Canada.
If your travel details change before arriving in Canada, you can update your information using the ArriveCAN app.
