It's the opening day of Ayr's Scottish Grand National meeting on Friday plus there's racing elsewhere from Newbury, Leicester and Southwell and Irish action from Wexford and Dundalk.
The Listed Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase over an extended two and a half miles is the feature race from Ayr at 15:30, where there are seven races in total with the opener at 13:45 and the last is set for 17:15.
Phil Kirby's Whoshotthesheriff (9/1) is a leading player in the aforementioned 15:30, in which Betfred are paying out on three places as part of their 'Extra Place' promotion, after a recent victory at Carlisle.
Whoshotthesherriff also won at Wetherby last October, before three disappointing outings, but this race should suit even though the handicapper has raised him 6lb. Other likely contenders include Beakstown (3/1) and Flic Ou Voyou (7/2).
Grand National Betting Odds
The first race of the day is scheduled for Leicester at 13:00, and there are seven races there with the meeting finishing up after the 16:25.
At Newbury they start at 13:20 and run until the seventh race at 16:50. In the fourth contest at Newbury at 15:05, in which Betfred are paying three places, Irish Hill (5/4) is expected to be in the mix after an impressive debut victory at Taunton at the end of last year. He was most recently seen finishing second over C&D at the start of last month so should be feared by his five rivals this afternoon.
Southwell stages eight races today with the action getting underway at 16:35 and finishing up after the 20:10. In the opener, Betfred's 'Free Bet If Second' promotion is available and Rolfe Rembrandt (7/2) will hope to get the better of a nine-strong field as he looks to follow up on what was an impressive victory at Newcastle last time out.
The Irish action today starts with the meeting at Wexford at 16:00, with seven races there until 19:00, while Dundalk's seven-race card takes place between 17:20 and 20:20.
