Rory McIlroy (12/1 - Tour Championship outright) admitted he was proud to recover from a disappointing start at the Tour Championship, after finishing the first round on seven-under-par.
The Northern Irishman, who started the competition on four-under due to his place in the FedEx Cup standings, dropped four shots in his first two holes on Thursday.
However, the 33-year-old responded well at East Lake Golf Course and managed to bag five birdies in his last seven holes to move himself back into contention.
"Not the ideal way to start, but proud of how I bounced back from that," McIlroy said. "I would have been happy just to get back to even par after the first few holes, but to shoot three under was great."

Meanwhile, it's world number one Scottie Scheffler (8/11) who leads the way on 15-under-par, with Xander Schauffele (5/1) his closest rival five shots further back.
Despite the lead, Scheffler is taking nothing for granted and says he's only focused on his game ahead of Friday's second round.
"I'm not looking at leaderboards, I'm not looking at any of that other stuff," Scheffler said. "I am treating it like a four-day event, and just like any other one I'm going to go out there and try and put myself in position to win the tournament."
Thursday's first round was also a positive one for Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick (12/1), with the Yorkshireman shooting a six-under-par 64 to shoot up the standings into third place on nine-under-par.
