The Premier League juggernaut is back in town after a looooong international break. We have a bumper crop of seven matches taking place on Saturday and we've previewed the match between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion which is at the traditional 3pm kick off time. Not only that but we've provided two bets for your perusal.
Liverpool vs Brighton Tips
Due to postponements and the international break it will be exactly a month to the date since Liverpool last won in the Premier League - a 2-1 win over Newcastle at Anfield. Jürgen Klopp will be desperate for his side to pick up three points here and get the Reds season underway. They currently sit in 8th in the table after an iffy start to their title campaign and will see Brighton as a match they can win.
The Seagulls have had a stellar start to their Premier League season but suffered the loss of Manager Graham Potter to rivals Chelsea. New boss Roberto De Zerbi comes highly recommended and finds his team sat up in 4th spot in the table. The former Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donestk head coach will be keen to get his new tenure on the south coast off to a flying start.
Team news:
Klopp is still missing several key players including Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Ibrahima Konate is back in contention though after returning to training through the international break.
De Zerbi has a relatively full squad to pick from with only long term injuries to Jakob Moder and Jeremy Sarmiento. Adam Lallana is looking for a recall after recovering from injury.
Football Odds
Liverpool to win and both teams to score - 7/4
Liverpool have won 15 of their last 17 games at home in the Premier League and have scored at least two goals in 16 of their last 20 home games. However, they come up against the best defence in the league so I can't see this being a walloping.
Brighton are tough to beat and Liverpool have only kept two clean sheets in their six games this season. I'm taking the Reds to edge this one, probably by a single goal after Brighton have scored themselves.
#PickYourPunt - Alexis Mac Allister to score and be carded - 16/1
The man I'm picking to score that Albion goal is attacking midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. The 23-year-old Argentine joined from Argentinos Juniors back in 2019 and took a while to find his feet in the EPL.
However, he has improved year-on-year, netting five goals last year and already has four this season. Alexis is also prone to a yellow card, averaging one every other game thus far this campaign.
The double pays 16/1 using Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature.
