Burnley vs Stoke Betting Tips: More frustration for Clarets

Burnley have seen their promotion push stutter over recent weeks after recording too many draws and there could be more frustration on the cards for the Clarets when Stoke City visit Turf Moor on Wednesday.

Vincent Kompany's side have developed an unwanted habit for throwing away leads of late, so backing the Draw/Burnley in the Half-time/Full-time market could provide plenty of value at 7/2.

Burnley vs Stoke Tips

Half-time/Full-time - Burnley-Draw - 7/2

Over 2.5 goals in the match - 5/6

No team has lost fewer matches in the Championship so far this season than Burnley, who have suffered defeat just once from their 11 games, but the Clarets have turned into draw specialists, sharing the spoils six times to date.

Failing to capitalise on strong starts has also proved an issue for Burnley, as they have dropped eight points from winning positions already this term, most recently during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Cardiff City, when they conceded a 90th-minute equaliser.

Opponents Stoke have won once in five matches since appointing Alex Neil as manager, although they have taken four points from their last two away fixtures, following up a convincing win at Hull City with a draw against Queens Park Rangers.

Burnley are the 3/4 favourites to collect all three points from this fixture, with the draw 11/4, while Stoke are 19/5 to claim what would be their first win at Turf Moor since 2007.

Team news:

Scott Twine is expected to miss out once again for Burnley. The midfielder, who joined from MK Dons over the summer, has not featured since the opening weekend of the season due to an unspecified injury.

Ashley Westwood, Darko Churlinov and Kevin Long also remain on the treatment table, although defender Charlie Taylor is available after he returned from injury against the Bluebirds.

Stoke were thrashed 4-0 by Watford on home turf last time out, which could encourage Neil to ring the changes for their trip to Lancashire.

Forward Jacob Brown missed the defeat to the Hornets with a quadriceps injury and he is expected to remain sidelined, as is midfielder Sam Clucas, who continues to nurse a hamstring problem.

Football Betting Odds

Half-time/Full-time - Burnley-Draw - 7/2

Burnley were always hard to beat under previous boss Sean Dyche and that resilience has remained since Kompany took charge over the summer, although the Belgian has also added a swagger to the Clarets' attacking play.

There is no doubting Burnley are one of the easiest teams on the eye in the Championship, but they appear to lack a killer instinct, which has been highlighted after they have thrown away leads to draw in three of their last four fixtures.

Stoke have only lost one of their last four away from home, while they have recorded two draws since Neil's appointment as manager at the end of August, which includes coming from behind to share the spoils with Swansea City during his first match in charge.

Wednesday's match could easily follow a similar pattern, so don't be surprised if Burnley are leading at half-time but the contest finishes all-square - something that can be backed at 7/2.

Over 2.5 goals in the match - 5/6

Only two teams have scored more Championship goals than Burnley so far this season and those sides, Sheffield United and Bristol City, have both played one more game than the Clarets.

Kompany's men have been particularly free-scoring at home, as they have averaged over two goals per game across their last three at Turf Moor, while they are sure to be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a Potters side who conceded four last time out.

Three of Stoke's last four matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored and it is 5/6 for that to come in once again on Wednesday.

This should ultimately prove an entertaining game, but it may well be another night of frustration for Burnley in their quest to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
