There is lots of racing on Monday with four UK meetings and a brace from Ireland on what is a Bank Holiday in the Emerald Isle.
Jumps fare comes from Hereford, Plumpton and Wexford while they race on the Flat at Galway, Kempton and Wolverhampton.
Amongst our Monday fancies is the Gordon Elliott-trained Run Wild Fred, who locks horns with Grand National winner Noble Yeats at Wexford.
Selections
- Wexford 15:15 - Run Wild Fred @ 11/8
- Plumpton 14:20 - Lord Baddesley @ 6/4
- Kempton 16:13 - Warren Point @ 7/2
Tip 1
A proper Halloween treat is in store for racing fans as Grand National winner Noble Yeats squares up to Gordon Elliott's pair RUN WILD FRED (SP) and Frontal Assault in this Listed M.W. Hickey Memorial Chase at Wexford (15:15)
With Noble Yeats recently pulled up over in France on his comeback, there must be some degree of worry for his fans coming into this, with Aintree in the spring likely the end-target in Emmet Mullins' mind.
Frontal Assault won well at Galway last time, but Jack Kennedy prefers Run Wild Fred here of the Elliott pair.
He chased home stablemate Galvin in a Punchestown Grade 3 on his own comeback and should be all the better for that. He led his rivals a merry dance in the Troytown last season on second appearance and looks the one to be on at Wexford with that comeback run under his belt.
Tip 2
It's already been a fantastic month for trainer Chris Gordon, with a near 40 per cent strike-rate from 33 runners so far in October.
Amongst those that ran well in defeat during the month was LORD BADDESLEY (SP), second behind Knappers Hill in the competitive Silver Trophy at Chepstow - with a Grade 2 winner at Wetherby on Saturday emerging from that contest.
Last season's Betfair Hurdle fourth looked set to score over this C&D in April only to fall when going easily four out, and that reappearance should leave him ripe to score from a 1lb higher mark here with in-form pilot Harry Cobden taking over in the plate and further scope for improvement at this distance.
Tip 3
There's Listed action on the Polytrack at Kempton Park on Monday too and Charlie Appleby's WARREN POINT (SP) could be the answer in the Raven Roofing Floodlit Stakes (16:13).
The Dubawi gelding has wins at Newmarket, Doncaster and Goodwood over 1m2f this season but has been shaping as though he's ready to have his stamina further explored.
He ran well in defeat last time at Newbury behind a pair of fellow Godolphin inmates and he can make the most of the weight he gets from the likes of Candleford and Berkshire Rocco as he steps up in trip/class here with James Doyle back in the saddle.
