What a weekend of Premier League football! But the derbies haven't ended yet and we have an East Midlands battle in store on Monday night. Leicester City and Nottingham Forest haven't faced each other in the league for eight years and not in the top flight since 1999. We've previewed this one and provided you with a couple of suggested bets.
Leicester vs Nottingham Forest Tips
I'm pretty sure that when Brendan Rodgers and Steve Cooper checked their fixture lists on the 16th June, they would have circled this fixture as one to pay particular attention to. What they won't have done is imagine a world where this would be a contest between the bottom two in the division. The two East Midlands rivals have accumulated just five points combined from a possible 42, after a dreadful start to the season.
Sacked Wolves boss Bruno Lage beat Rodgers and Cooper in the next Premier League manager to be sacked race but these two feature prominently right at the head of the betting. A loss here for either side could be the trigger for the respective owners to pull the plug and attempt to save their season.
City enter this one as 3/4 odds-on favourites, whilst Forest are a fairly long 18/5 shot. If you fancy a stalemate, then the draw is backable at 16/5.
Team news:
Rodgers is still without Ryan Bertrand and Ricardo Pereira, whilst Patson Daka is still struggling, with an illness he picked up on international duty.
Scott McKenna and Morgan Gibbs-White picked up knocks in the international break and will likely join Moussa Niakhaté on the injured list.
Football Odds
Leicester to win and both teams to score - 11/5
Leicester City have been diabolical so far this season, let's not try and dress it up as anything else. However, with this being an East Midlands derby, the fans and players should be bang up for this one and with the home advantage of a raucous King Power, I'm backing Rodgers' men to finally churn out a Premier League win.
The Foxes defence has been dreadfully porous, so I'm going to include BTTS in this one, as Forest should breach their backline. The Tricky Trees are missing a few key players for this one and I think they'll fall just short, as they have done in their last two 3-2 losses.
James Maddison to score anytime - 7/4
One man who will be key to any Leicester success is attacking midfielder James Maddison. The 25-year-old has been strangely snubbed by England boss Gareth Southgate, despite being one of the form players in the Premier League. Maddison had 20 goal contributions last season and already has four in six games so far. I'm backing him at 7/4 to add to that tonight.
