With the course being significantly above sea-level at around 2,500ft, he thinks that low scores are more than likely and with the forecast being for benign conditions, put all that together then plenty of birdies should be on the menu.
The three Par 5s are all very reachable so that is where you'll see big moves and with winners in the past few years being between 19 and 22 under, a similar winning number wouldn't shock on the first of three events down in Spain

As for his selections, he has two players in mind…
'I've gone for two picks this week at the Open de Espana. For my first pick I've gone for Thriston Lawrence. He won six weeks ago and he got a top eight the previous week. He's just a really strong player and I feel that his stats are really good this year as well. For this course, his strokes gained total is 11th so he's doing everything well. For approach he's 29th and off-the-tee he's 20th, so these are all really good stats for this. He's seventh for birdies made, which is something he will need to do this week. I think he can do well.'
Thriston Lawrence is currently priced up at 35/1 to take the €297.500 winners cheque.
'My second pick is for Hennie du Plessis. He was second a couple of months ago but he's had a couple of quiet weeks if I'm honest. This course will really suit his kind of game. For strokes gained he's tenth, which is very good and he's doing everything well again. For approach play he's 48th and off-the-tee he's 12th, which is great for this course. He's sixth for birdies made. His stats are very similar to Thriston's, so that's why I've chosen them both as they make a lot of birdies, which is something you have to do around here.'
Hennie Pu Plessis is a 55/1 shot as of Wednesday morning and remember Betfred are paying out six places for this event.
