Mackenzie Hughes was the latest man to win on the PGA Tour at the Sandersons Farms Championship, after a late playoff victory over Sepp Straka. Next up, we have the Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas, Nevada. We've asked our man Adam Roberts to preview the event and give us his best bets for you to run your eye over.
Shriners Children's Open 2022 Tips
History
The tournament started as the Las Vegas invitational back in 1983 and during its tenure has been played at multiple courses in and around Las Vegas and under different names, before settling at its current home at TPC Summerlin.
The Shriners Hospital for Children took over operation of the tournament in 2007 and the years 2008-2012 were called the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, due to the entertainers hosting of the tournament. The event is now an annual fixture, taking place in October each year.
This event has had several multiple winners with Jim Furyk winning it three times, and Kevin Na and Martin Laird winning it twice. TPC Summerlin is famous for being Tiger Woods first ever PGA Tour win, back in 1996. The current defending champion is SungJae Im, who won with a score of -24 to beat Matthew Wolff by four strokes.

The Course
TPC Summerlin is a 7,243 yard par 72 layout and was originally opened in 1991. The course was designed by architect Bobby Weed in association with Fuzzy Zoeller and is a stunning looking sight, having been sculpted into the Nevada desert. Summerlin isn't the most challenging of courses, as witnessed by the low scoring over the years, with 20 under regularly broken. It features wide expansive fairways, big receptive greens and plays shorter than its advertised distance, due to it being 2,700 feet above sea level.
The Field
2017 champion Patrick Cantlay leads the way in the betting here and is half the price of any other player at 7/1. The defending champion Sungjae Im is next up at 14/1, with the back-to-back Fortinet Champion Max Homa at 16/1. Other past champions teeing up here include Martin Laird (100/1), Ben Martin (250/1) and Ryan Moore (300/1).
Golf Betting Odds
1.5u Tom Hoge each-way (1/5 8 places) - 40/1
33-year-old Hoge started his 2022/23 season in fine form, picking up a T12th at the Fortinet, after four rounds of 70 and below. The TCU graduate had a slow start to his PGA tour career but finally broke his duck in 2022, when winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. 2022 was a stellar year for Hoge with six T10's and he has good course form here, finishing T7th in 2017 and T14th last year.
1u JT Poston each-way (1/5 8 places) - 50/1
Another former Web.com tour graduate, Poston burst onto the golfing world's consciousness back in 2019, when winning the Wyndham Championship. He followed that up with his 2nd tour win earlier this year at the John Deere - in a good sign for this week, both scores broke the -20 barrier.
The postman has mixed form round TPC Summerlin, but did finish T27th in 2021, so he can play here. If Poston can recover his form of last year, when he picked up nine T10 finishes, he could be a real contender here.
1u Justin Suh each-way (1/5 8 places) - 60/1
25-year-old Suh had a superb Amateur career and carried that onto the Korn Ferry Tour last year, posting eight Top 10's, 14 Top 25's and won the end of season Tour Championship. The former Pac-12 player of the year has struggled so far in his first full year on tour, missing both cuts but he has played well in Vegas before, finishing T8th in 2021. Surely it's only a matter of time before this stellar talent begins to shine on the big boys tour?
0.5u Adam Schenk each-way (1/5 8 places) - 150/1
Schenk turned pro in 2015 and has had a quiet time thus far, mainly on the LatinoAmerican and Web.com (Korn Ferry) tours, yet has had a few notable top 10s on the PGA Tour. His best performance came in 2021 where he led this very tournament after 54 holes, before a last round -1 saw him finish T3rd. The former Purdue alum finished T27th and T18th at Summerlin prior to that, so this course clearly suits his game.
