Another four meetings come along across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday with jumps racing dominating from Uttoxeter, Fontwell and Tramore in the afternoon while the evening all-weather offering is at Southwell.
Our selections on Tuesday include a possible improver for Mark Johnston and Franny Norton on the Tapeta at Southwell.
Selections
- Southwell 16.50 - Wadacre Grace @ 4/1
- Uttoxeter 13.55 - Treefinch @ 11/1
- Fontwell 14.05 - Vision Des Flos @ 12/1
Tip 1
The Mark Johnston-trained WADACRE GRACE (4/1) emerged from Kempton having posted a career-best 18 days ago despite settling for second spot and she can more than likely build on that over the winter on the all-weather scene.
The daughter of Brazen Beau was a winner back from a break at Newcastle in September over 7f, showing a fine attitude to get the call under Franny Norton and has been mostly competitive in four runs since.
The mile race at Kempton last time was an apprentice heat and she got to the front with two-furlongs to run, only to be overhauled by winner Super Den quickly, though she once more rallied to take minor honours off River Wharfe.
Franny Norton returns in the plate this evening and this filly is entitled to do better at the mile trip given her lightly-raced profile and how the Johnston team typically thrive on their racing. She's on the Betfred Most Napped table for Tuesday's action and looks a fair price in a competitive race.
Tip 2
TREEFINCH (11/1) has shown ability in bumpers and in two runs in novice/maiden hurdles for trainer Stuart Edmunds and could be one to improve on this first foray into a handicap.
The Telescope filly made her hurdles debut at Worcester (2m, good) in the autumn, finishing fourth, and she likely built on that next time at Market Rasen (2m4½f, good to soft) when third behind a winning newcomer for trainer Alistair Ralph and a runner-up from Dan Skelton's string that should be quite useful.
An opening mark of 98 isn't excessive, especially with the promise of further improvement to come and she's perhaps underestimated at a double-figure odds in this Mares' Handicap Hurdle.

Tip 3
After a bright start things have gone a little quiet for Joe Tizzard in his first full winter holding the license at the Dorset base his father Colin made famous.
He'll have taken some encouragement from West Approach's second at Lingfield on Monday and he looks once more to nephew Freddie Gingell and his 7lb claim on VISION DES FLOS (12/1) at Fontwell today.
The nine-year-old won at Warwick (2m4f, good) in September and has since finished second at Exeter (3m, good to firm) and fourth at Kempton (2m2f, good to soft) in two further outings.
He goes back up in distance here and that looks a positive as all four chasing successes have come at 2m4f and beyond. He was a course winner at Fontwell over hurdles in Grade 2 company in his only previous visit here and is still lurking on a decent mark relative to his best form. The return to this venue could bring further success.
