There are four meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, after Warwick fell to the still frozen ground.
That leaves jumps action to come from Fairyhouse and Catterick alongside the afternoon meeting on the Tapeta at Newcastle, before Kempton kicks in with the evening action.
Our midweek selections include one for Gary Moore heading for Kempton this evening in what could prove a shrewd bit of race-targeting from the trainer.
Selections
- Kempton 7.30 - Royaume Uni @ 4/1
- Catterick 3.45 - Git Maker @ 6/4
- Newcastle 4.00 - Wiccan @ 5/2
Tip 1
An interesting bit of placement here from Gary Moore as ROYAUME UNI (4/1) targets this London Stayers' Series Qualifier over two-miles on the Polytrack at Kempton.
The gelded son of Galileo is a useful hurdler, gaining his most recent win in that code last March and holding his form afterwards right up until October's Plumpton second over 2m4½f.
He ran here over hurdles on soft ground at Christmas and turned in a rare below-par effort, but could well bounce back now.
He's 2-2 previously on the all-weather, twice scoring at Lingfield over this trip in the spring of 2021, latterly off a higher mark than this one, and is far from exposed on the level overall.
He ought to be very competitive in this seven-runner contest and, with it being a Betfred Extra Place Race, he looks well worth some interest.

Tip 2
Jamie Snowden's GIT MAKER (6/4) won with something to spare over C&D on New Year's Day and is taken to follow up now and justify his spot on today's Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder in doing so.
He was a winner in three of his four hurdles starts last term and showed clear promise over fences with runner-up finishes at Sandown (2m4f, soft) and Kelso (2m7½f, soft) upon tackling the larger obstacles this term.
His first run beyond three-miles duly resulted in a convincing win here on soft going at the start of the month, with today's rival Tupelo Mississippi some 6½-lengths behind in second. That rival is 5lb better off now, but that may not be enough to turn things around with further progress anticipated for Gavin Sheehan's partner.
Conquredalofeurope is a worth rival and may make the running, but Git Maker looked a strong stayer here 24 days ago and can take the prize with a repeat effort.
Tip 3
It's been a hot start to the year for trainer Hugo Palmer, with his string operating at a 38 per-cent strike-rate in recent weeks and his filly WICCAN (5/2) may well add to that tally in the final race at Newcastle on Wednesday afternoon.
She made her handicap bow at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening and was much-improved from anything she'd managed in three qualifying runs, racing up on the pace throughout and just weakening inside the final furlong of that 7f event.
The winner, Tennessee Dream, was completing a quick-fire January hat-trick of wins for Charlie Hills.
This mark of 52 is clearly within in reach based on that effort and a drop back to 6f looks a good move. Apprentice rider of the moment Billy Loughnane gets the leg up here and can continue his brilliant start to 2023 with another winner.
