In a 5-1 vote, members approved a separation agreement with Parker during a meeting Wednesday night. They named Michele Mitchell, Executive Director of Student Advancement, as interim superintendent. "It is important that we state that this decision was made without cause as Dr. Parker is a capable division leader who has served NNPS for nearly five years through some extremely challenging circumstances," School Board Chair Lisa Surles-Law said after the vote. "This decision is based on the future trajectory and needs of our school division." Trending: Addressing conflict from a Godly perspective Parker faced a barrage of criticism after the Jan. 6 shooting of first-grade teacher Abigail Zwerner at Richneck Elementary. The shooting is the third on school property in 18 months, following the 2021 shootings at Heritage and Menchville high schools.
