A trio of UK and Irish race meetings take place on Sunday, with National Hunt fare holding sway at Fontwell, Hereford and Naas.
The Grade 2 National Spirit Hurdle (2.30) is the feature race on British soil, while across in Ireland it is the Johnstown Novice Hurdle (3.40) that takes top billing.
Our Sunday fancies include the sometimes polarising Goshen in the Fontwell feature for Gary Moore.
Selections
- Fontwell 2.30 - Goshen @ 3/1
- Naas 3.40 - Lily Du Berlais @ 12/1
- Hereford 2.50 - Jobesgreen Lad @ 6/4
Tip 1
GOSHEN (3/1) does have something of a racing marmite feel about him these days, you either love him or you don't.
Gary Moore's charge has twice this season blotted his copybook when sent chasing but the trainer very much consigned that experiment to the bin after last time.
In between those runs, however, came a Grade 2 hurdles win at Ascot in November where he had today's rival Brewin'upastorm more than eight-lengths in arrears over this trip and then a really pleasing effort when second in the rearranged Long Walk at Kempton on Boxing Day behind Paisley Park as he tackled three-miles for the first time.
If you are willing to forgive those efforts over the larger obstacles, and given how truly obstinate they were it seems best, then he surely should be the clear market leader here.
He was an easy winner on his only previous visit to Fontwell and with Sceau Royal getting no younger and Knappers Hill well held in the Kingwell at Wincanton just eight days ago, this is a fine opportunity for Goshen to bag the fourth Grade 2 success of his career by taking out the National Spirit Hurdle.

Tip 2
Grade 2 action in Ireland comes from Naas and it's the Johnstown Novice Hurdle (3.40) and last-time-out Fairyhouse maiden winner Found A Fifty is a warm order for Gordon Elliott as 6/5 favourite.

He ought to go well but hurdles debutante LILY DU BERLAIS (12/1) is a viable alternative getting 7lb for Stuart Crawford and JJ Slevin.
She was a Grade 2 bumper winner at the Dublin Racing Festival last season and, unusually, was back there this month to finish second in the same race behind leading Champion Bumper contender Fun Fun Fun from the Willie Mullins string.
She now heads jumping for the first time and, assuming she takes ok to the discipline, she could have a big say at decent odds.
Tip 3
Just four runners in the Alexander Park Handicap Chase (2.50) at Hereford but three of them won last time.
The Evan Williams-trained Blacko beat two rivals when dominating in front in a poor race at Leicester 10 days ago and may need a good bit more now, while Joe Tizzard's Le Ligerien won at Plumpton three days before that on his return from 325 days off, though he did leave some doubts in regards to his jumping.
They both made all last time and they could force matters together now, paving the way for hat-trick seeking JOBESGREEN LAD (6/4) to pick them off.
Tom George's charge is making some good progress now, following up November's success at this track over 2m5f with a win at Ludlow just before Christmas - form that has been well advertised since.
Despite a 9lb hike, he looks the one to be with again now, especially as his two main rivals may set the race up for him. He is on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder and should justify that position.
