Paris Saint-Germain look to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1 when they travel to the Stade Louis II on Saturday (16:00) to take on Monaco. We have previewed the game and provided you with our best bets for the occasion.
Monaco vs PSG Tips
- Paris Saint-Germain to win @ 5/4
- Over 2.5 total goals @ 8/13
Monaco (9/5) have made a flying start to 2023 and are part of a gaggle of clubs battling to be 'best of the rest' behind Ligue 1 leaders and next opponents Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite going seven league games unbeaten (W5, D2), Monaco still trail their visitors by 10 points, so for their own hopes of securing European football for next season, a result here is essential.
PSG (5/4) will be wary ahead of their trip to the principality, hoping to avenge last term's defeat this weekend.
While the Parisians retain a healthy cushion atop the Ligue 1 standings, two defeats across their last six league games (W3, D1) have shown they are fallible, especially as both came away from home against sides in the top five.
Team News
Breel Embolo has scored two in his last two outings for Monaco, so he looks set to lead the line alongside Wissam Ben Yedder on Saturday.
Kylian Mbappe will miss the clash against his former side due to injury, after PSG confirmed that the French international will be on the treatment table for around three weeks.
However, PSG were boosted by the return of Neymar in their most recent outing against Marseille in the Coupe de France.
Latest Monaco vs PSG Betfred Odds
Paris Saint-Germain to win @ 5/4
Christophe Galtier's side were dumped out of the Coupe de France in midweek at the hands of Marseille, but that result does allow them to concentrate on retaining the title, starting here.
The defending champions are the highest scorers in the league this term, by quite some distance, scoring 54 times in 22 matches.
I'm expecting PSG to show a response here, as they will be bitterly disappointed to exit the Coupe de France at such an early stage in the round of 16.
Over 2.5 total goals @ 8/13
Monaco's home league fixtures this term have produced a Ligue 1-high average of four goals per game, so I'm expecting goals on Saturday afternoon.
In addition, five of PSG's last six games, as well as four of Monaco's last six, have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
Despite the absence of Kylian Mbappe, PSG still have a star-studded attack featuring Lionel Messi and Neymar - the former has 15 goals and 14 assists in 23 games, so expect him to dictate proceedings here.
