There are just a trio of UK race meetings to kick-start a new week, with action taking place over jumps at Ayr and Plumpton in the afternoon, before the evening all-weather card from Wolverhampton.
Amongst our fancies is an improving chaser Ayr-bound for the Sandy Thomson team.
Selections
- Ayr 2.15 - Bass Rock @ 6/4
- Ayr 5.00 - Esprit Du Potier @ 3/1
- Wolverhampton 7.00 - My Delilah @ 10/1
Tip 1
Both One Fine Man and Richmond Lake have shown a likeness for front-running and that could help tee this four-runner Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (2.15) up for improving BASS ROCK (6/4).
Sandy Thomson's charge had 25 lengths to spare over Richmond Lake when they met on their respective chasing bows at Carlisle (2m, soft) in November as Bass Rock won with some style.
Richmond Lake won since at Wetherby on his only start subsequently, while Bass Rock went to the same Yorkshire layout over Christmas and was only narrowly outpointed by improving Grandads Cottage over further, with that rival holding up the form when second at Fontwell on Sunday.
A slight drop in trip shouldn't pose any worries for Base Rock now and he can hopefully track the pace and bag this prize.

Tip 2
The Olly Murphy-trained newcomer I Am No Risk heads the betting for the Conditional And Amateur Jockeys bumper that concludes the afternoon at Ayr (5.00), but the experience of ESPRIT DU POTIER (3/1) could be the way to go.
Lucinda Russell's charge was runner-up on debut over C&D (soft) in November, chasing home a subsequent Doncaster winner, and came back to this venue in early January to score himself by a comfortable 6½-length margin. That form has also held up, with the third going close here at the start of the month.
As one of only two four-year-olds in the field here, Esprit Du Potier is well treated in the quest to follow up that course and distance win and it will likely take a smart effort to prevent more success.
Tip 3
A sprint handicap at Wolverhampton this evening over the flying five furlongs offers a chance to MY DELILAH (10/1) to show some improved form.
The daughter of Galileo Gold was a C&D runner-up in maiden company in December on her second start and overcame some shenanigans at the start when running a good race in a close fourth on her recent handicap bow at Lingfield over 6f.
She tussled with some in-form rivals in that contest 10 days ago and the drop back to 5f should suit David Loughnane's charge now. First-time cheekpieces are also added and, if the filly behaves in the preliminaries, she can play a forward role in the race.
She's on the Betfred Betfinder's Most Napped list for today's racing and looks overprice at current double-figure odds in this Extra Place Race (three places).
