The betting markets move quickly when looking at new managerial appointments and the Leeds job is no different. Andoni Iraola is the hot name on the lips of many following a report in The Athletic with the Rayo Vallecano coach now all the way into 15/8 and the second-favourite behind West Brom boss Carlos Corberan who is now as short as 5/4 to get the job.
Leeds Manager Jesse Marsch was given his marching orders on Monday following a typical Leeds performance at Nottingham Forest. His side looked for all the world to be the better side but if you can't score goals, you won't win games. Whoever takes the job will need to get Patrick Bamford back to his best as the transfer window has now shut. This is a job for a proven coach.
Both Mauricio Pochettino and Marcelo Bielsa have seen small drifts in the market but another Argentine in Marcelo Gallardo has now joined them in the top five according to the odds. The Australian manager was met with a tepid welcome when he came over from Japan in 2021 but he has done an impressive job and made the Hoops the clear dominant force in Scottish football since his arrival. If Leeds are to go down a route that doesn't involve a manager from Argentina then they could do an awful lot worse.
Kjetil Knutsen adopts an attacking style that would surely be welcomed by the Leeds faithful. What he has done with Bodo/Glimt has been nothing short of remarkable and it is a bit of a surprise that he's not been lured away from the Norwegian club yet. Stepping into a relegation battle though for his first job in a top league with no transfer window however would be a tall order. We have him at 12/1 to get the gig.
Nuno Espirito Santo could bore all the fans at 16/1. I just don't see that one making any sense and Steven Gerrard is at the same price. Neither make any sense but if they could find a way to lure Brendan Rodgers away from Leicester at 20/1 then I reckon that would go down well among the supporters.
It is Iraola though who is the big mover in the Next Leeds Manager Betting Market this morning.
