Back Southend United to win and over 2.5 goals at 13/8

Back in another life and two places that I called home ago, I used to volunteer at Southend Hospital Radio and as part of what I did down there, I was part of the team that would commentate and broadcast on games from Roots Hall. I have some good memories of those times and it has been sad to watch from afar as they've dropped out of the league and continue to fight to stay in business.

Another winding-up petition was thrown out in the week and the club look set to complete the season. On the pitch, the Shrimpers have been in very good form recently having won five of their six National League games in February. The only defeat was on the road to high-flying Notts County. Three of those five victories came with 2-1 scorelines and thus being over the 2.5 goals needed for this bet to come in.

Barnet are actually above Southend in the league table but the Bees are on a poor run having lost four of their past five. All eight of their games in February saw over 2.5 goals be a winner as they have a good attack coupled with a less than stellar defence.

Recent form indicates this should be a home win. A strong crowd is expected for this Friday night game as fans will come out to rejoice that the club has continued to exist and that is another reason why I like Southend to come out on top in what should be an entertaining encounter.
