Racing on Tuesday in the UK comes from Fontwell, Southwell (AW) and Thirsk in what is a mixed bag of action.
Our fancies include a horse who is looking to complete a hat-trick at Fontwell when she lines up in a Class 4 handicap hurdle over the extended 2m5f trip at the West Sussex-based venue.
Selections
- Fontwell 4:00 - Flintara @ 2/1
- Thirsk 4:45 - Debydinks @ 3/1
- Southwell 17:30 - Haven Lady @ 7/2
Tip 1
FLINTARA (2/1) is unbeaten in two appearances this season, and she comes into this handicap hurdle at Fontwell with a great chance of completing a hat-trick. On her last success around this course, she prevailed by 11 lengths in what was an impressive performance.
Richard Bandey's mare is dropping down in distance to 2m5½f for this latest assignment, but she is very familiar with this trip. Two of her three victories over hurdles have come over 2m4f.
The course winner features on the Betfred Betfinder this afternoon as one of the most Napped selections. She has been put up 7lb by the handicapper, but that is unlikely to be enough to stop her from maintaining her 100% record this season.

Tip 2
Three-year-old gelding DEBYDINKS (3/1) is still a maiden after 13 starts but he has gone close to that first success on several occasions, including on the all-weather recently. He has finished second on two of his last three appearances on the track.
Keith Dalgleish's sprinter just got headed inside the final 110 yards at Newcastle last month. The handicapper has kept him off the same mark as that near miss which gives him a great chance of going one place better this time, especially in what looks like a moderate race.
The son of Sandy Man is now back on turf again. The last time he featured on this surface he ran off a mark of 58. He is now 9lb lower in the ratings. This contest represents a great opportunity for him to break his maiden.
Tip 3
C&D winner HAVEN LADY (7/2) has been knocking on the door recently, but she has been a little unlucky not to prevail in 2023 so far. She has hit the frame on three of her four appearances in the calendar year.
The five-year-old finished second in a 10-runner contest at this course (1m6f) two runs ago. She bumped into a well-handicapped horse from Charlie Johnston's yard in that race on the Tapeta.
John Quinn's mare was runner-up once again at Wolverhampton (1m4f) on her latest appearance. The margin of defeat was even shorter on that occasion as she went down by just a neck. With an extra 110 yards in that race, she would have taken the top prize.
The experienced middle-distance runner has been handed a good draw in the opener at Southwell, and if she reproduces what she has been showing recently, there is a good chance she will add to her tally.
