News came out just after 8PM on Sunday night that the Graham Potter era at Stamford Bridge was over. We check out the latest odds surrounding who might replace the 47 year-old and the odds-on favourite should be no surprise to anyone…
When Todd Boehly bought the club and decided to move on from Thomas Tuchel relatively quickly, he decided to buy into the idea that Potter was the right man for this project. Clearly an exceptional coach who had done wonders with Brighton but hadn't managed big name players. Many will see this as one of his biggest issues and there will certainly be a school of thought that the next hire will be someone with a history of having already managed at a top club. Enter Julian Nagelsmann.
The first thing to note is the former Bayern Munich manager is younger than me, which scares the bejesus out of me. In a slightly more serious tone, the 37 year-old was somewhat surprisingly let go with many suggesting that off-field matters rather than results was the catalyst for his departure. I'm not sure the Chelsea hierarchy will care about his relationship status and when he was removed from the top job at Bayern, they were still very much in the running to win both the Bundesliga and Champions League. He's clearly an extremely talented gaffer and if he wants straight back in then this job will surely entice him more than say Spurs? We are 4/11 that he does want straight back in and that Stamford Bridge will be the right destination for him.

Interim boss Bruno Saltor Grau is the second-choice in the market at 4/1 but that just seems unlikely. The caretaker often gets the job if they do a decent job but the new owner has invested an insane amount of money and I just can't see him not bringing in exactly who he thinks is the right fit, money doesn't seem like an issue for him.
Brendan Rodgers is the 13/2 third favourite and that is just bizarre in my opinion. Just because he's available without compensation doesn't automatically equate to being a serious candidate. Poch is 12/1 and that is far better value. Having already been successful in the Premier League and has managed big time players at PSG.
14/1 for Chelsea to go back to Brighton and buy-out another manager in Robert De Zerbi but again that doesn't seem to add up. Diego Simeone and Jose Mourinho both have reputations doing good jobs but imagine the Special One back at the Bridge for a third time. I'd love to know what the fans would think but I can already hear the ire of Fleet Street writers at the very notion.
It does seem as though it is Nagelsmann's for the taking if he wants it. You have to think they have whoever they want already lined up otherwise why fire Potter now? I'd be surprised if this position wasn't filled in the near future.
