Racing on Sunday in the UK and Ireland comes from Musselburgh, Sligo and Wetherby. All three Flat cards are set to host seven races across the afternoon.
At Musselburgh, it is the opening meeting of the Sunday Series which is covered by ITV Racing. One of our selections comes in the class three sprint handicap at 6.45 at the meeting, with a Starspangledbanner filly that has the speed to prevail from pillar to post over the 5f distance at the Scottish-based course.
Selections
- Wetherby 14:30 - Golden Maverick @ 5/2
- Sligo 16:55 - Dha Leath @ 9/4
- Musselburgh 18:45 - Dun Na Sead @ 11/2
Tip 1
GOLDEN MAVERICK (5/2) remains a maiden after four appearances on the track, but based on his latest performance at Southwell (1m), it won't be long before he gets his nose in front.
Ian Williams' gelding showed very little in the opening three starts of his career. He then made his handicap debut from a mark of 55. He was hampered on a couple of occasions in that contest, and he hung right at times. However, he came home strongly under the hands of Hollie Doyle to finish third of 10 runners, getting within a length of the winner when crossing the line.
The three-year-old features on the Betfred Betfinder as one of the most Napped selections this afternoon. If he steps up on his latest performance at Southwell, he should be good enough to land this contest.

Tip 2
DHA LEATH (9/4) was a four-time winner last season in that was an excellent campaign for the mare. The last of those victories came on her final outing of the year at Naas in a 1m2f handicap.
Gavin Cromwell's runner made her seasonal reappearance at the Curragh in the Irish Lincolnshire in March. That 1m distance was shorter than her ideal trip, but she did not disgrace herself in the 27-runner field.
The daughter of Mehmas is off a career-high mark of 95 now, but this step up in distance will help and, unlike some of her rivals here, she has the benefit of already having a run this season.

Tip 3
DUN NA SEAD (11/2) has already had five appearances in 2023. She was on the go during the winter on the all-weather, with the pick of her performances being her victory at Dundalk (5f) in February off a mark of 70.
The four-year-old switched to turf earlier this month, and she nearly prevailed on her first outing on the surface this season. She made the early running but just got collared late on by a fast finisher, forcing her to settle for second place.
Kieran Cotter's unexposed runner has been eased 1lb by the handicapper for her latest effort. She will be much fitter than the majority of the runners in this field, and this time she can lead the field from pillar to post.
