Racing on Thursday in the UK and Ireland comes from Beverley, Chelmsford (AW), Perth, Punchestown, Taunton and Warwick on what is a busy day of action.
It is day three of the Punchestown Festival in Ireland. There are two Grade 1 races on the card, the Champion Stayers' Hurdle and Barberstown Castle Novice Chase. In the former, a Willie Mullins contender can win the race for an impressive third straight year.
Selections
- Beverley 4:00 - Dogged @ 3/1
- Punchestown 4.15 - Dinoblue @ 10/3
- Punchestown 5:25 - Klassical Dream @ 3/1
Tip 1
DOGGED (3/1) ended a long losing run when he got his nose in front at Ripon (1m) earlier month on his second start of the season. He was always prominent in that contest and when asked to quicken in the closing stages, he had the right answers.
The handicapper has put the gelding up 4lb in the ratings for his Ripon victory, but that may not be enough to prevent a follow up success. Elle-May Croot gave him an excellent ride last time and she can claim 7lb off his back on this occasion, which offsets 2lb of his rise.
The six-year-old features on the Betfred Betfinder as one of the most Napped selections this afternoon. The conditions should suit, and his draw gives his rider options out of the stalls.

Tip 2
In five appearances this season, DINOBLUE (10/3) has finished no worse than second place. She has been ultra-consistent over fences, which is why she is now rated at 147. Willie Mullins' runner may not have stopped improving so it is a mark she can still work with.
The six-year-old finished second in the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last month behind Maskada. She then scored at the Fairyhouse Easter meeting in a novice handicap chase by just over nine lengths.
This mare is likely to step up in class next season for Mullins so it could be the last time she appears in handicap company. On what could be an excellent day for the Irish champion trainer, his mare can shine once again on her final outing of the campaign.
Tip 3
KLASSICAL DREAM (3/1) has won the Champion Stayers Hurdle in each of the last two years. Willie Mullins' star clearly enjoys it around this racecourse as he also won as a novice at this meeting.
Mullins has four runners in this field and Paul Townend has opted for Klassical Dream over those other horses.
Unlike Sire Du Berlais and Monkfish, who have already appeared this month at Aintree and Fairyhouse respectively, he has not featured since Cheltenham, so he is likely to be the freshest of those three leading players.
The defending champion does need to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham, but that run can be forgiven. Expect to see the nine-year-old at his best again, which should be enough for him to complete a hat-trick in this contest.
