It can't be just three weeks ago that I was sitting on my sofa watching Newcastle absolutely dismantle the Hammers. On that night, all seemed lost for manager David Moyes, who had little answer to a number of individual mistakes from his own players that doomed his side to a very embarrassing four goal defeat in front of their own fans.
For all the world it looked as if his job was in jeopardy but since that day, all they've done is progress to the semi-final of a European competition, hold league leaders Arsenal to a 2-2 draw and beat Fulham and Bournemouth on the road. Talk about a change in fortunes and now it is ever increasingly likely that the London Stadium will be host to Premier League football once more next season.
Liverpool travel to the capital on the back of successful victories although one was far more convincing than the other. Leeds were torn apart up at Elland Road in the Monday Night Football a week ago but on Saturday, Nottingham Forest went toe-to-toe with Jurgen Klopp's men and had they walked away with a point, I don't think many would have thought it was undeserved.
Several teams in the top flight this season have been disappointing. Chelsea probably rank at the very top of that list with Spurs and Liverpool fighting it out behind them. What should be said is that the Anfield club have suffered significantly with injuries throughout the campaign, however you would expect them to be closer to the top four. Some say they are still in the mix but it would take a herculean effort now to be invited back to the Champions League for the 23/24 season.
One name who has been out and has finally seemed to shake off the rust is Portuguese striker Diogo Jota. A serious calf injury has severely impacted his season but goals in back-to-back games indicates that he might be rounding back into shape. We have him as a 6/4 shot to score anytime and I think that is decent enough.
The visitors are unsurprisingly favourites considering the array of talent they have at their disposal. The 9/10 price is actually not too bad as you are getting near enough even money on them to come away with the three points. The reason I like Liverpool is that I think West Ham may switch off a bit following Sunday's massive three points and when you couple that with a side who are good going forward, we may have a somewhat like Newcastle-type scoreline on the cards.
Our friends at the Racing Post have said their verdict on the game is that the 23/10 for Liverpool to win and BTTS is their top bet. I wouldn't argue. I expect goals at both ends. Plenty of people love a small play on the Correct Score market so I'm going to say Klopp's side win comprehensively and the 25/1 on a 1-4 scoreline is my prediction for the Final Score.
