Plenty racing action across Britain and Ireland on Friday with seven meetings spearheaded by day one of the Guineas Festival at Newmarket.
They are joined by Flat action from Goodwood, Musselburgh, Cork and Newcastle (AW), while jumps fans can look forward to Cheltenham's Hunter Chase evening as well as the card from Downpatrick.
Our Friday fancies include one for Newmarket handler Charlie Appleby on day one at Headquarters as he looks to get his string into top gear.
Selections
- Newmarket 1.50 - Native Trail @ 10/11
- Goodwood 2.35 - Dream Composer @ 3/1
- Cork 5.15 - Maria Branwell @ 9/1
Tip 1
Notwithstanding the fact that Charlie Appleby has seen some fancied contenders defeated in recent times, it is probable the Moulton Paddocks handler will be aiming to get his string firing on all cylinders from this point on and NATIVE TRAIL (10/11) is the class act in the bet365 Mile (1.50).
This race was held over from Sandown's abandoned card last Friday and Native Trail is an exciting addition to the party.
Champion 2YO in 2021, the Oasis Dream colt won the Craven over C&D on last season's reappearance in fine style, so he should be ready to go on this first start since August.
He was second in the Guineas behind stablemate Coroebus and won the Irish version before a pleasing third in the Eclipse at Sandown and signed off when well held behind the brilliant Baaeed in York's Juddmonte International.
He was well clear of today's rival Light Infantry when they clashed over C&D last May and should take out this Group 2 prize.

Tip 2
With two non-runners overnight reducing the field to six, this five-furlong Goodwood speed test this is really starting to look like a fantastic opening for DREAM COMPOSER (3/1) at what appear generous odds in the circumstances.
The James Evans-trained gelding won three times last season, including successive wins at Pontefract (5f) and here over 6f in late May/early June.
He continued to hold his form in defeat afterwards, mostly over 6f, and once more found his best in the autumn when a close second over this C&D before a victory at Ascot (5f, good to soft) in early October.
After a couple of runs to work on his fitness at Wolverhampton and Doncaster over 6f, the drop to this trip worked perfectly in last month's Newmarket win - where he had a next-time-out winner behind in third.
He's only gone up 2lb for that success and has optimal conditions here in which to showcase his proven ability to string performances together once he finds his stride.

Tip 3
Listed action for the fillies' this evening from Ireland comes via the Goffs Irish EBF Polonia Stakes (5.15) at Cork and MARIA BRANWELL (9/1) is a very interesting contender on stable debut for Joseph O'Brien.
The daughter of James Garfield made a cracking start last season as a juvenile, winning on debut at Thirsk (5f, good) and then taking out the Listed National Stakes at Sandown (5f, good to soft) before an excellent third in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.
She went 0-6 after that but did so when contesting hot races. She has left David O'Meara over the summer and is now based with O'Brien in Ireland.
The young trainer is adept at having a runner ready to roll first time up and, given she started last season so well, Maria Branwell can be expected to bring her A-game in the hands of Dylan McMonagle for the first time. With this being a Betfred Extra Place Race (four places) she makes decent each-way appeal.
