It is a very busy Saturday with eight race meetings spread out across the day in Britain and Ireland.
Action on the Flat is from Chester, Goodwood, Haydock, York and the Curragh in the afternoon, before Salisbury in the evening, while there's a jumps offering from Cartmel in the afternoon and another at Ffos Las in the evening.
Our Saturday fancies include a recent Chester winner bidding to double his tally on the Roodee for Alan King.
Selections
- Chester 5.45 - Greystoke @ 3/1
- Haydock 1.50 - Carzola @ 15/8
- Goodwood 4.55 - Pure Angel @ 2/1
Tip 1
This afternoon's card at Chester concludes with the Roman Day Community Zone Handicap over the mile-and-a-half trip and a pair of contenders return here having run well at the May Festival at the start of the month.
Charlie Johnston's Demilion was second over C&D on heavy ground and might be good enough to go one better, but he's drawn widest in stall 10 and that's a worry for Franny Norton.
Instead, GREYSTOKE (3/1) is taken to make it successive Chester successes for Alan King and Benoit De La Sayette.
The Sixties Icon gelding had been in good fettle on the all-weather this year prior to winning an apprentice event over track and trip 15 days ago.
He was always close to the pace and is drawn to be front rank again now. He won quite decisively last time and while he's rated 5lb higher now, his rider can make use of a 3lb claim this time, so they are in with an excellent chance of more Roodee glory.

Tip 2
Frankie Dettori may be into his final season but he remains box office news wherever he goes and this afternoon he's at Haydock. The Italian is booked to partner CARZOLA (15/8) for Ralph Beckett in the Betfred TV Hell Nook Handicap over two-miles and they should take some beating.
The Lope De Vega filly has really found her calling since tackling this new trip. She won back-to-back starts at Lingfield on the Polytrack in March/April and brought that form across to turf at Doncaster three weeks ago when routing three rivals in what amounted to a canter.
The handicapper has put her up 10lb and she's in a higher grade this afternoon, but Carzola looks to be a stayer to keep on the right side of and she can ensure Dettori is on the scoresheet on this afternoon Betfred-backed card up on Merseyside.

Tip 3
One from the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder completes our Saturday trio as PURE ANGEL (2/1) is take to land the Angus Millar Celebration Handicap at Goodwood.
A 190,000gns yearling, she shaped quite nicely last season and finished off with a wide margin success on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton to open her account in November.
Trained by James Horton, she looks a sprinter who will go places this year and this opening mark of 84 doesn't look prohibitive with the form of that all-weather novice success working out well.
