Racing on Thursday in the UK and Ireland comes from Carlisle, Fairyhouse, Lingfield, Market Rasen, Ripon, Roscommon and Yarmouth.
One of our fancies is at the Garden Racecourse at Ripon in a class three handicap over 1m2f. It is a C&D winner from David and Nicola Barron's yard who is dropping down in grade this afternoon.
Selections
- Ripon 15:20 - Tele Red @ 9/4
- Roscommon 15:35 - Harbour Wind @ 6/4
- Ripon 16:20 - Baryshnikov @ 10/3

Tip 1
TELE RED (9/4) came close to success over this C&D last month when he finished second of nine runners. He went down just a head after being passed in the final strides of the class five handicap.
Karl Burke's runner has gone up just 2lb in the ratings for that near miss which seems fair from the handicapper. This is a mark that remains workable for the six-year-old gelding, whose two career victories have both come over this distance.
The son of Telescope features on the Betfred Betfinder as one of the most Napped selections this afternoon. A step up on his latest performance should be enough for him to get his head in front on this occasion.
Tip 2
HARBOUR WIND (6/4) made a winning start to his career last month when he showed no signs of inexperience to prevail at Cork on his debut. He made virtually all the running in that 1m contest, where he benefited from being next to the rail in the closing stages.
Trainer Dermot Weld is now opting to step his horse up to 1m2f, and based on his breeding (he is a son of Nathaniel), he is likely to appreciate the extra two furlongs here. He should also get even further later in his career.
Harbour Wind and Pivotal Trigger are the only two winners in this field, so they will need to carry a 5lb penalty. The former is unexposed and can be taken to maintain his 100 per cent record and add a second success to his tally.

Tip 3
Six-time winner BARYSHNIKOV (10/3) is a gelding that rarely runs a bad race. He featured just three days ago at Redcar, coming home third of nine runners in a class two handicap. This assignment is an easier one, so should he step up on that performance, he will have a great chance of recording his first success of the season.
The experienced seven-year-old is often at his best at the start of the season. In 2022, he recorded back-to-back victories at Pontefract and Chester respectively. This latest mark of 89 is 2lb lower than his last success.
David and Nicola Barron's runner will enjoy the fast ground that he will encounter here at Ripon. On paper, this looks like a competitive contest, but if Baryshnikov delivers something close to what he is capable of, he will take all the beating.
