Xander Schauffele (17/10 Tour Championship 2022 Outright) cut Scottie Scheffler's (8/11) lead to just two shots after a seven-under-par 63 round on day two of the Tour Championship at East Lake.
World number one Scheffler began the second round with a five-shot advantage over Schauffele after his opening round of 65.
Scheffler, who will be hoping to hold his nerve to scoop the $18million prize, was steady and solid on Friday as he carded a four-under 66 but his lead was still slashed due to an extremely strong performance from Schauffele, who hit six birdies before holing a putt for an eagle on the 18th to apply the pressure.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Schauffele joked: "I've got to keep my head down. Scottie's playing really boring and solid golf.
"He's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing to keep the lead. I have to stay patient."
