We go to Ligue 1 for a Wednesday night all-favourites fivefold as we put up our accumulator picks for the 1st February 2023, heavily influenced by the recent form guide…
Football Accumulator Tips - Wednesday 1 February, 2023
- Back PSG to beat Montpellier at 2/7
- Back Monaco to beat Auxerre at 2/7
- Back Lens to beat Nice at 8/11
- Back Montpellier to beat Nantes at 8/11
- Back Toulouse to beat Troyes at 8/11
- Total Price - 7.51/1
Just for a change we thought that a trip across the channel would be a bit of fun based on the fact a full midweek slate of games are in place for the top division of French Football.
PSG might not be on the greatest run having taken a pretty paltry seven points from their previous five games. Suddenly the title race seems back on considering the recent form of all three chasing them. None of Lens, Marseille or Monaco have tasted defeat in their previous five outings.
Christophe Galtier's side have every opportunity to grab all three points and have very little new injury concerns heading into the game. Marco Verratti will have to sit this one out having seen red last time out but the class available to the defending champions should be enough to see them over the line here - even if it might not be as comfortable as you may imagine.
Monaco are also a very short price to win as they face a home game against Auxerre who have only tasted defeat in the league since football returned after the Coupe de Monde. The visitors sit in 19th and when the home side faced 18th placed Ajaccio a fortnight ago, they ran riot in a 7-1 victory. Must be one of the home bankers across the continent this midweek.
The other three games are a bit harder to call but in this all-favourites fivefold, clearly they are all expected to win according to the traders. Mid-table Nice could cause some problems for a Lens side who have only scored seven in their past five league games. On the flip side only PSG have been able to score at the Estadio Bollaert-Delelis since the calendar turned to 2023. A low-scoring home win feels likely.
Montpellier have only dropped one point in 2023 and that was in a 1-1 draw at home to Monaco - a game where the visitors' goal was actually an own goal. Nantes are in decent nick recently but La Paillade are in the best form since the resumption of play after the enforced winter break. Tricky game but the away side have enough quality in the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Dimitri Payet to see them past Antoine Komboiare's side.
Rounding off this fivefold is a Toulouse side who haven't tasted defeat in six games in all competitions - not bad for a mid-table side - facing off at home against Troyes. The visitors battled hard to take a point off high-flying Lens last time out but having seen just 26% possession, you know they are going to be a bit leggy for this trip. A home win feels highly likely.
