Football Bet of the Day: Brennan Johnson to have 1+ SoT catches the eye

Tuesday was a second successive win for this column as Salford won at 13/10. For Wednesday's Bet of the Day at Evens or Longer I had two in my mind but I'm going to go the Prop Bet route in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Old Trafford.

Back Brennan Johnson for 1+ Shots on Target at Evens

In the first leg of this tie I toyed between the two options of Marcus Rashford to score anytime and Morgan Gibbs-White to have a shot on target. I picked the latter so when the United player rifled home an early goal, I was cursing myself. Happily the Forest player did have an albeit very tame effort on target that resulted in a winning column.

Gibbs-White is not expected to play due to an ankle knock he suffered in that game but when I saw Johnson at Evens, I decided that was a good bet to put up. The Welshman has been in good form in front of goal in recent weeks and has already had 17 efforts on target in league action this campaign, resulting in a SoT every 94 minutes.

With the tie already being all but gone with Manchester United holding a three-goal lead, it would not be much of a surprise if Erik ten Hag made a handful of changes and rotated his squad ahead of a very busy period for his side. This may allow the visitors to create a handful more chances than you might expect.

Johnson has cleared two shots on targets in half of his previous eight games and since his move to a more attacking position, has found himself in good positions to take attempts on goal. The chance to get Even money that he has one feels well worth a dabble and a value play.
