There is a full slate of Premier League fixtures this weekend, with the first of seven games on Saturday taking place at the Etihad, when a 12.30 kick off sees Manchester City host Newcastle United. Manchester City (4/9) cruised through to the quarter finals of the FA Cup in midweek, dispatching Bristol City 3-0 at Ashton Gate.

Now, they resume their title challenge, desperately trying to rein in Arsenal at the top and face a tricky looking tie against Newcastle United (6/1), on Saturday dinnertime.

The Magpies have had a full week to lick their stitches and patch up their walking wounded, after the heart breaking loss at Wembley on Sunday.

Newcastle have won many plaudits for their fans performance and reaction to the defeat and surely it's only a matter of time before Eddie Howe's men are a regular fixture in those showpiece occasions.

Their sole focus now will be on maintaining what's been an impressive start to the season and attempting to qualify for Champions League football next term.

Team news:

John Stones is nearing full fitness for Pep Guardiola but probably won't be rushed back for this one. Aymeric Laporte will also be a late assessment.

Nick Pope returns for the Magpies after serving his one match ban in the League Cup final loss. Emil Krafth remains out and could be joined on the sidelines by Bruno Guimarães, who picked up a knock at Wembley.

The Citizens have looked to be getting back to something approaching their mercurial best in recent weeks and have won their last two games by a combined 7-1 score line.

The return of Phil Foden has sparked their offence and whilst he may be rested here in favour of Riyad Mahrez, City should have way too much firepower for a United team that is starting to creak towards the second stanza of the season.

Newcastle are winless in their last four and have struggled on the road this season, with just four wins from 11 away games. City should win this one comfortably.

Guardiola was able to rest his striking sensation in the midweek win in Bristol and he should return here, chomping at the bit.

The 22-year-old netted in the last Premier League outing at Bournemouth and he will be looking to add to his already Manchester City record tally of 27 Premier League goals.
