It's Bank Holiday Monday and that means that there is plenty of racing action to enjoy, with seven cards taking place across Britain and Ireland.
Flat racing comes from Bath, Beverley, Windsor and the Curragh, while they go over obstacles at Kempton, Warwick and Down Royal on a busy day with 51 races scheduled.
Our May Day fancies include an improving chaser bidding for success on the card Kempton Park.
Selections
- Kempton 3.40 - Latitude @ 5/1
- Curragh 3.35 - Star Girls Aalmal @ 4/1
- Beverley 3.28 - River Usk @ 5/4
Tip 1
Last-time-out winners LATITUDE (5/1) and Duc De Beauchene seem sure to run big races in the Heart Of The Community Since 1878 Handicap Chase (3.40) at Kempton Park over the three-mile King George trip.
Duc De Beauchene won well at Wincanton in mid-April, but the handicapper has reacted by putting him back up 11lb for that and he hasn't always managed to back up winning efforts in the past.
Melanie Rowley's Latitude was having only his fourth start over fences when he scored at Ludlow over this trip in March and it was just his second start at the distance.
Narrowly denied at Kelso previously in a race that worked out well, he pulled clear of his rivals at Ludlow and is unexposed as a staying chaser, so a 6lb rise in the ratings could be well within his scope now, as he looks to justify his inclusion on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder.

Tip 2
Group 3 action for the Fillies' & Mares via the Athasi Stakes (3.35) at the Curragh and UK raider Queen Aminatu looks sure to be popular with punters for the William Haggas team.
The Muhaarar filly has improved nicely on the all-weather either side of a winter lay-off and has strong claims, though she does need to prove that improvement can be transferred across to the all-weather now.
Henry De Bromhead's STAR GIRLS AALMAL (4/1) is a fair rival to take her on in the hands of Chris Hayes. She caught the eye when fourth in the Park Express at this track in March, running on strongly after being denied a clear passage to finish fourth behind 110-rated Insinuendo.
She has form at this 7f trip and handles soft ground very effectively, so conditions underfoot are in her favour. There should be a big run in her.

Tip 3
Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr can team up for a winner on the card at Beverley with RIVER USK (5/4).
The Dandy Man gelding is still a maiden but has run well in all three starts in handicaps, including at Catterick (6f, soft) in last month's reappearance when he was one-length second of nine in a Class 6 contest behind a rival with the benefit of a recent run.
River Usk turns out now from an unchanged mark and returns to 7f and should be on the scoresheet soon.
