Timber Market Analysis Class!

Held Virtually Over Two Half-Days on September 30 & October 1

Taught only once per year, Forisk's Timber Market Analysis Class explains the process to understand, track, and analyze the price, demand, supply, and competitive dynamics of local timber markets and wood baskets through the use of interactive case studies.


This class is hosted virtually and it is divided into two half-days of course content. The topics in Day 2 build on the concepts and case studies from Day 1.

Course Objectives



In Forisk's Timber Market Analysis Class, attendees will learn a detailed approach and set of practical skills for analyzing timber markets and wood raw material basins. Primary applications include investing in and managing timberlands and wood-using facilities.


Day 1:

  • Learn a standard framework for conducting a timber market analysis.
  • Learn to define "operable" and "analyzable" timber markets.
  • Learn how to specify types and sources of timber supply for a wood-using mill.
  • Learn how to utilize key data sources to baseline wood demand and competition.
  • Learn to evaluate current vs future timber/wood market analysis.


Day 2:

  • Learn how to evaluate timber supply chain issues.
  • Learn how to develop industry scenarios.
  • Learn how to project market-specific wood demand.
  • Learn how to project market-specific forest supplies.
  • Learn how to forecast stumpage and delivered timber prices.
  • Learn how to compare markets and communicate the results of the analysis.

Continuing Education Credits


This class will qualify for 6.0 hours of Continuing Education credit for the following: CFE (Forestry), CLE/MTH (Logger/ Georgia Master Timber Harvester, Georgia Real Estate/Appraiser, and CPE (Accountancy).


Day 1 qualifies for 3 CE hours and Day 2 qualifies for 3 CE hours. Attendees can attend both days to receive the full 6 hours, or attend one day to receive 3 hours.


Please Note: This event will be recorded for online viewing afterwards, however, we can only offer Continuing Education Credits to the people who attend the live webinars. In order to be awarded the full credit hours, you must be present for the entire class and you must respond to all polling questions during the presentation.
